What You Can Do...

To be truly radical is to make hope possible, rather than despair convincing.

Learning from Experience How to Spread Hope and Truth

We created the Deception Dollar to overcome the barriers of media censorship. They were so popular that the donations helped to fund the 9/11 Truth Movement and they were like seeds. People scattered them widely and some of them took root, transforming lives, bearing much fruit.  They inspired people to create websites, videos, artwork, films... So when people ask me "What can I do?" I usually have to ask them the same thing.  Everyone has talents, gifts, idea, abilities, passion, and we are all capable of learning new skills to improve our ability to communicate through words, art, music, film, actions... The psychological resistance to looking at problems still remains fierce, despite the wars, the deceptions, the financial crisis, the legislation that threatens all of us.  In 2007 we published a Conception Dollar and subsequently in 2010 a Perception Dollar to offer solutions to our situation. People loved those. We are almost completely out of them now and in the process of reprinting our next evolution of them.

There are the simple things: give money, or give time, pass out literature, make phone calls, put up signs, attend events, wear a button, put a bumper sticker on your car, spread the word to your friends via email, post info on other websites. Support the occupations, the actions challenging banks, foreclosures.  There are innumerable issues, actions, causes, and much to educate ourselves about. We can also help create the positive alternatives.  At this stage of the Occupy Movement, it would be good to create cooperatives to meet real human needs and redirect time, money, energy away from institutions that threaten us towards the organizations that serve us.

Together we can do what no one of us can do alone.

Join us!

We are overwhelmed with all the tasks that remain to be done to get our campaign moving forward.  Many people have been contributing their considerable talents, but we need more people with more talents, time, skills to improve the website, improve our outreach materials, work on communications, media, events, precinct walking, telephoning, data entry... you name it!  Let us know what your skills, talents are or the ones that you would like to develop.  We actually need to get at least 30,000 votes in the June primary to be on the ballot in November; this requires a very concerted effort over the next two months.  Ideally, we hope to help unleash people's creativity and insights to produce an irresistible message which will resonate, not only in the 18th District, but can be used by other campaigns across the country, which will change the national conversation, opening possibilities and taking us off the current warpath against dissent, life and morality.

Come to our Campaign Kick-Off Party on Saturday, April 28th, 2012, 3:00 pm to 10:00 pm at the Willow Park Condo Clubhouse, 500 W Middlefield Rd., Mountain View

Join us for music, food, and fun! Guest speakers include Peter Phillips; Media Freedom Foundation, Maria Gilardin of T.U.C. Radio, Richard Gage, AIA; Founder of Architects and Engineers for 9/11 Truth, Paul Rae, author of Mounting Evidence: Why We Need a New Investigation of 9/11 and many more... Sharing Skills & Craft

As we strive to reclaim our lives and countries from total corporate domination, there is much to learn from other movements working to awaken and mobilize the public, especially those that have made progress in the face of overwhelming odds.

Here's a list of creative tactical and strategic ideas that a friend collected at one of our national 9/11 truth conferences. Although the focus was 9/11, the suggestions that arose can be applied to many different issues, including the endgame with corporate power which occupies us now.

REACHING/TOUCHING/MOVING THE PEOPLE...
(Partial list compiled at the 2007 "9/11 Accountability - Strategies and Solutions Conference" in Phoenix, Arizona.)

GUIDELINES: HAVE FUN - THINK INCLUSIVE - FRAME CONCEPTS IN COMPASSIONATE TERMS - RECOGNIZE WHEN ACTIONS MAY BE CONSIDERED ILLEGAL

TAG EVERYTHING with stickers, graffiti, chalk, deception dollars, perception dollars or the new election 2012 dollars in grocery stores or: with waitress tips, hang on bulletin boards, leave in toilet stalls, put in shirt pockets in department store clothing; in general fold em up so they look like lost money, or place face up for full affect. Always, Always, have flyers on you (cargo pants work great!)

BE ARTSY Make a T.V. Head (TV Head created a box with a cutout for a tv screen-face and goes around flanked by two people who pass out flyers)

Have your favorite websites put onto a self inking rubber stamp - tag everything you can even stamp dollar bills

Wear buttons

Bed sheet signs - they are large, and can be coupled together for even larger signs Wash. D.C. Scoundrels Revealed: See: (your favorite website)

Chalk on sidewalks - ahh, culture jamming

Smaller can be better - Catchy phrases- 5 - 6 words I.E. "Washington Politics Unmasked at: (your favorite website)”, “Washington Insiders Revealed at:”

We can't get mainstream media on board, but we can get the lower echelon media employees on board - same goes for Congressional staff/interns (come in the back door as necessary)

Purchase a media list - better yet, if you have one, please share it

Make little creative boxes to house a variety of DVDs, make a sign for the box A Free 3 day Documentary Rental@ - give boxes to coffee shops, bookstores, head shops, mom&pops.

Old African proverb - "Many spider webs can bring down an elephant."

Make DVD donations to Public Libraries

Make friends with the people who do your reprographics and provides office supplies (discounts are nice)

Put up a kiosk at High School sporting events: Literature lands on dining room tables for Mom and Dad to see - double whammy

Write letters to the Editor

Try and get past the gates of wikipedia - persistence required. Alternative site that is in its infancy stage is www.youpedia.net

Lobby leftist/progressive/religious publications to cover us (Mother Jones, America Prospect, Harpers, Namaste, etc.)

Tap into the Zine community

Go to college/university websites, send emails to professors in Political Science and Science Depts., etc.

Don't lose heart. The truth can make you feel small and powerless - be empowered - an insider told me, hey, we're just waiting for critical mass

Artists: Add comedy to express message - short vignettes

Ask others for ideas

Buy PSA's from Alternative Media

Utilize public access TV (I have plenty of videos/DVDs to get on Community Access TV stations which I will be happy to supply you with.)

Do group street corner gatherings - same day, same time, regularly - add art for effect

Tailor your message to the audience - sometimes less is more. Limit message as necessary - three strong points is a minimum

Give presentations to, and network with other groups or urge them to invite Carol to speak to them. Some to consider are:

  • Senior Centers. Seniors have spare time and often are influential in their community.
  • Churches. Most churches have men's and women's groups which meet regularly.
  • Veterans or active military: VFW Posts, military recruiters, National Guard headquarters.
  • Business affiliations: Professional or trade
  • Members of Moveon.org, Democratic, Republican, Green Party, University/Campus clubs, Peace and Justice Groups, Code Pink NAACP, Hispanic community (the immigration issue produced a massive turnout = organization)
  • Alternative Radio, editorial/news staff of local publishers or radio stations
  • Minorities/Gay community: you might surmise they are already up to learning more about the absurdities of humankind

Have at home group and/or public documentary viewings

Purchase billboard display advertising - perhaps along Interstate/Freeways.  Remember, you have no more than 8 seconds to get your message across

Purchase videos and books for handouts or mail them to influential people

Gratitude Thanks to the wonderful 2007 Feb 23rd Arizona 9/11 Accountability Conference attendees for providing the above inspirations.

Inspirational Inhalations P.S. Wake up each morning, do a little stretch, three slow deep breaths, feel the comfort, and say "Ahh, Today is a perfect day", and if you forget to say it, then say it as soon as you remember...
