In fact, the "press conference" announcing the TV ad was my one and only "press conference" for my Congressional campaign (although I did participate in another one in Berkeley for the Greens earlier this year.) I do want to thank my supporters, those who encouraged me to run, helped gather signatures, sent me money, gave me emotional, spiritual, moral support.
This year was very challenging for me, between the health problems (I didn't get the results of the biopsy til July- and it is hard to run a campaign, if you don't know if you'll live through the election...), living in a house undergoing construction for six months, not being able to update or alter my 2006 website. I was really blessed when Tim just went ahead and developed this website for me and began teaching me "Joomla" and my friend, Fiske, helped put together the ad, and Cres secured the spots. I think of this "campaign" as a learning experience. The ad was shown during the the last 6 days prior to an election (when many people sent in absentee ballots). It was shown in Santa Clara and Santa Cruz Counties, and I received more votes in both of those counties than in San Mateo County where the ad was not shown. How many people watch TV? I don't really know. I did hope that the ad might compel people to begin questioning 9/11 and the bailout, if they hadn't already, and to appreciate the fact that the Green Party is the non- corporate party championing values shared by most people on the planet- including Truth, Peace and Justice.
I wrote a very lengthy article about my 2006 Campaign entitled Running in Circles which gives the background about why I chose to run for Congress in 2006. My Congresswoman would not champion the critical issues, that I felt should be addressed- mainly Impeachment, 9/11 Truth, Repeal of the Patriot Act. She worked actively to expand the Intelligence Agencies and construct Homeland Security, which I viewed as a threat to Americans and the world.
We created the
Deception Dollar
to overcome barriers to media censorship. They were so popular that the donations helped to fund the 9/11 Truth Movement and they were like seeds. People scattered them widely and some of them took root, transforming lives, bearing much fruit. They inspired people to create websites, videos, artwork, films... So when people ask me "What can I do?" I usually have to ask them the same thing. Everyone has talents, gifts, idea, abilities, passion, and we are all capable of learning new skills to improve our ability to communicate through words, art, music, film, actions...
There are the simple things- give money, or give time, pass out literatiure, make phone calls, put up signs, attend events, wear a button, put a bumper sticker on your car, spread the word to your friends via email, post info on other websites.

The unraveling of the US and global financial system should not be a surprise to anyone who has been paying attention, doubted the news headlines over the past decade, or plunged into an odyssey of self- and world-discovery by reading books, studying history, or seeking the truth behind the cultural myths that cocoon Americans into the notion that they live in the world’s beacon of democracy and freedom. The most surprising factor is that people who have created the crisis think that they can continue the scam by stealing another $850,000,000,000 overtly through the bailout, and even larger amounts covertly, to keep the game going for the world’s wealthiest people at the expense of everyone else.
In the past, Egypt, Babylon, Persia, and Rome fell when a small percentage of the population controlled nearly all of the wealth.(2) Today, the rich have never been richer nor the poor poorer. The concentration of wealth has been achieved by conquest, as well as by one of the most powerful tools of empire—money.
Debt-based monetary systems are the building blocks of empires, and generally empires collapse or topple when they have destroyed their ecological base. The current global empire severely threatens the forests, the oceans, the climate, the fertility of the soil, the aquifers, the bees, and innumerable other species, including humanity.
